Biography

Christina Bornatici holds a PhD in social sciences from the University of Lausanne. She joined FORS in 2015 as a specialist in open research data and contributes to national and international projects promoting data sharing and archiving. Within the Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA), she coordinates several initiatives, such as mentorship programmes between institutions, the development of a resource directory for data repository staff, and advocacy for data citation among key stakeholders. She has also supported efforts to integrate open research data into research assessment.

Alongside her work on open data, her research interests focus on gender equality in Switzerland. She is an affiliated researcher at the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Life Course Research (LIVES), a member of the Gender Research Committee of the Swiss Sociological Association, and an editor of the Revue pluridisciplinaire d’Education par et pour les Doctorant·es (RED). She is also a member of the International Network on Leave Policies and Research.

 

Expertise

Christina Bornatici specialises in open research data, with a focus on the development of research data infrastructures. She has experience coordinating international collaborations and developing support tools for a wide academic audience, including data professionals, researchers, and students.

Her research addresses gender equality, with a particular interest in the analysis of attitudes, behaviours, and inequalities within families and workplaces. She approaches these topics from a combined gender and life course perspective, using quantitative and longitudinal research methods. In addition, she engages in critical reflections on research practices, particularly concerning gender measurement indicators.
